Kite Fest was a summer-long celebration by Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts that presented kites as public art, as learning opportunities, and as a series of special events.
Like Cow Parade 2004, Kite Fest celebrated the work of regional artists, attracted visitors to the area, and had the community talking about kites in their infinite colors, shapes, sizes, and cultural diversity!
The Public Art Display promoted the work of local artists with kites on nearly 300 lamp posts in downtown Harrisburg, and kite sculptures throughout the city. Working with Kite Wizard Ed Novak, Walter Diehl, and the Whitaker Center staff, MIH helped create and coordinate the plan to process and install the completed kites.
