MIH helped to produce String Fling in April 2006 , a Kite competition and demonstration officially recognized by The American Kite Flyers Association at the National Civil War Museum in Harrisburg‘s Reservoir Park. More than 1,000 people came to view the competitors, make kites, and participate on the amateur kite hill.
Whitaker Center staff and volunteers helped hundreds of kids decorate and build their own kites from kits prepared in advanced.
Children flew their kites on the Amateur Kite Hill.
Designed to accommodate peak crowds in multiple stations, it proved to be the most popular activity at the event.
The KiteFest™ Gala, sponsored by The Hershey Trust, was a celebration and grand opening of Surf the Wind in Gloria M. Olewine Gallery at Harsco Science Center. MIH coordinated the food donations from a dozen area restaurants.
