International Place Winterfest

A multi day grand opening introduced International Place and the new BRICCO restaurant, a joint project of Harristown Development Corporation/ Hilton Hotel and Towers and HACC’s Olweine Culinary Institute.

The Friday Opening Ceremony featured a tour of the facility with guides in traditional costumes, followed by outdoor drinks and hors d'oeuvres. Guests signed the actual logo sign used during construction, which was then preserved and displayed in the building. The street was decorated with more than 100 international flags, and speeches by the project partners were delivered from a custom built stage.

Harrisburg's Mayor Stephen R. Reed used an actual Olympic Torch from the 1984 Los Angeles games to light an eight foot tall fire cauldron (constructed for the occasion) as a bagpiper played and neighboring church bells rang.
